security research

Below are images that i found when researching security measure that different bank notes have.

the above bank notes use the following as security measures:
  • security thread (thin ribbon usually threaded through the paper vertically)
  • raised ink
  • image on both sides lined up perfectly
  • clear polymer window
  • holographic strip
Other security measures:
credit card chips

Visa chip cards are not only more secure, they are also simple to use. Chip cards and terminals work together to protect in-store payments. A unique one-time code is generated behind-the-scenes that is needed for the transaction to be approved - a feature that is virtually impossible to replicate in a counterfeit card.

You can still swipe your chip-enabled card using the magnetic stripe on the back of the card at merchants who haven’t yet updated their terminals
While U.S. credit and debit card users started getting notices about the switch to chip-and-PIN as early as 2014, users in other countries, such as Mexico, Brazil, and Germany, have already been using chip technology for several years. This technology has proven successful in reducing fraud in over 130 nations around the world.
Given the major hacks of credit card information in 2014 (for example, a whopping 56 million credit and debit cards were affected by a data breach at Home Depot in September 2014), the switch to chip technology is a big deal for U.S. consumers. Here are four major advantages of your new chip credit and debit cards.bar codes

Barcodes
Barcodes originally were scanned by special optical scanners called barcode readers. Later applications software became available for devices that could read images, such as smartphones with cameras.

Barcodes became commercially successful when they were used to automate supermarket checkout systems, a task for which they have become almost universal. Their use has spread to many other tasks that are generically referred to as automatic identification and data capture (AIDC).

below are different types of bar codes that are possible:

pass port chips

This symbol for biometrics is usually printed on the cover of such passports. A biometric passport, also known as an e-passport, ePassport or a digital passport, is a combined paper and electronic passport that contains biometric information that can be used to authenticate the identity of travelers.
To help speed up your time at passport control, there are now ePassport gates at all major airports in the UK. ePassport gates are automated, where a passport reader and camera, rather than a border officer, will verify your identity and check your ‘chipped’ passport.

Moving the chip which stores the holder’s details to the inside of the passport cover where it will no longer be visible. This gives additional physical protection as well as making it much harder to replace the chip without damage to the passport cover being spotted
