The future of the bank note is very touch and go in some people opinions because of the rise of paypal and contactless payments, but the banks disagree and Plastic bank notes is now the future says the bank of England as they will survive a spin the the washing machines are to be brought into circulation by the bank in 2016. The Bank argues that the polymer notes stay cleaner and are more secure than cotton paper notes, which have been used for more than 100 years. The £5 note featuring Sir Winston Churchill will be the first plastic banknote. More than 20 countries around the world have adopted polymer banknotes. The new notes will initially cost more to make but the extra durability of the notes means they will be cheaper to issue than paper notes, the Bank has argued.

  • Paper currency first developed in Tang Dynasty China during the 7th century, although true paper money did not appear until the 11th century, during the Song Dynasty. The usage of paper currency later spread throughout the Mongol Empire.
  • The idea of using a durable light-weight substance as evidence of a promise to pay a bearer on demand originated in China during the Han dynasty in 118 BC, and was made of leather.
  • In modern times most bank notes  are made from cotton paper (see also paper) with a weight of 80 to 90 grams per square meter. The cotton is sometimes mixed with linen, abaca, or other textile fibres.

Below are note from different countries that i looked at to gain inspiration on what theme to base my not on and also look at what other countries include on their notes.

All the above notes include a historical monument weather it be it be a king or queen, national treasure or an image showing their way of life. This shows a lot the the countries culture and is a reflection of it for everyone there to see. This is a good way on getting your countries culture noticed as people coming to visit tend to look at the money as they will be unfamiliar with it. The notes also include a security measure, the bank of.., and the amount in which the note is worth.
