Brief 1 - Vegan chocolate
On Course Collaboration
Timeframe : Four Months
Brief
The objective of this brief is to research a gap in the market for a product and then design a product range which is suited the chosen gap in the market. After some initial research i decided that i would design a product for the vegan market that would be just as appetising for the everyone vegan or none vegan.
In this brief I will design the packaging for the chosen product as well as create promotional materials to go along side it. I have decided to collaborate on this brief as i do not have a great knowledge of vegan products and it would greatly benefit the brief working with a fellow student who did, because of this i have chosen to work with Anna. A key part of our research will be to understand the vegan audience by undertaking a survey which will help guide the design process.

Brief 2 - YCN Frontier
Off Course Collaboration
Timeframe : December to March
Brief
The frontier brief from YCN was to create a campaign that promotes frontier in the noisy and cluttered world of lager brands. I chose to undertake this brief as it is very open and the list of possibilities is endless for things that could be created. I have decided to work with a student from Leeds Beckett on this project as it would be interesting to explore building a campaign with someone who’s expertise and ideas are different to that of my own. Research that we will need to undertake will include: researching lager brand promotions, the brands history and current promotions, frontiers social media presence, as well as the brands target audience. Primary promotions that we will have to design will be posters, layers as well as social media content these are essential as they are the basic elements that make up a typical marketing campaign.

Brief 3 - Plant Publication
Self Directed
Timeframe : Three months
Brief
For this brief the aim is to create an engaging magazine aimed at students that promotes the use of plants in the workspace and in homes/accommodations. The magazine needs to include useful tips on how to keep plants and not kill them.
Research that I will need to undertaken will be into the benefits of plants in workspaces and homes, as well as research into how to keep plants alive.
I will also need to find out how many students already have plants and know their benefits as they are my intended audience and without this information my magazine may not be needed. To find my content for the magazine I will be looking into other books and magazines that speak about plants benefits as well as keeping them in the house, I will also research articles and websites that provide similar information as it is important that I get a wide range of resources to have reliable information.

Brief 4 - Penguin Random House Book Cover
Small Competition brief
Timeframe: Two days
Brief
For this brief I intend to complete it as a two day task. I have chosen to complete this in two days as it is a fairly small brief. The cover that I have chosen to design is for the adult non fiction book of A Brief History of Time: From the Big Bang to Black Holes by Stephen Hawking. To complete this brief I will have to research what the books themes are as well as what images/representations would be appropriate. As I do not know what the book is about my response will be limited to what I understand from my basic research as well as be limited to what I can represent in design. A key part of my research will be to look at other design for the books cover as this will help me understand the appropriate use of images/representations.

For this brief i will be making a volume 2 of a look book that i made for cop2 practical. The intended audience of these look books are students and young professionals who like modernism or who are interested in it as graphic design. The other purpose of the look book is to show that modernism is still about in design and is very strong and popular in graphic design today.
