For my final design for my way finding i decided to go with the idea of the circle transferred onto the floor. This would be transferred as a vinyl and the white would be removed to revel the stone floor that is in the light. think this was the most appropriate response for this shopping centre as it is a very small space so doesn't need very much signage, and also it has numerous floor and the sign will be printed on a larger scale so will be visible for a high as well as while walking past/over it. I choose for is to be a vinyl as it is cost effect if the sign gets worn out with many people walking over it, compare to the cost of having it painted on the floor, also an up side of it being vinyl is is the shops, bars etc move in the shopping centre the sign is easily changed and re applied to the floor. Other methods of apply the sign were suggested in critique such as having it raised from the floor and the white back lit but this would not be cost effective for the reasons i stated earlier.
Something else that was mentioned in my critique was the idea of having signs on the floor similar to the one they have now but in the style of the circle and the arrow, back up my design and also clarify the direction. I like this idea so i signed one of the many that would be needed as an example of what this would look like (image below). The design would not be transferred in the same was as the large way finder as vinyl would not transfer onto the stone walls as well as it does the floor, for this reason i decided to go with the idea of the back lit sign, so the black circle would be a 3D casing with the pictogram as white plastic and inside would be a white light that highlights the white. This design would emphasis the pictogram in the centre and make it visible from afar, as well as creating interest.
