Study task 2 pictograms

The task was to apply our understanding of pictograms and symbols to develop a visual monotone symbol which effectively communicates a chosen sport in the Olympics. To complete this task i had work in a grid and use only shape and one colour, considering the audience, scale, impact and clarity to produce a range of ideas, then choosing the most appropriate design for the design specifics that i identified.

For my pictograms design I decided to choose diving, I started by looking at the images below to get ideas for the position I could draw the person diving and also how much detail I needed to include to make the symbol recognisable.

Here are my initial drawings of 2 different positions that I could use as my symbol, and 2 variations of the same style of positon.

Below is my digital design of one of my drawings of drawing person. Although this design does represent the intended sport that i was creating pictograms for it is over complicated for would works as a simple design.
Below is also a a digital version of one of initial draw designs. This pictogram is very clear as to what  the sport is that it is resembling but i think that the body shape is unproportionate.

Below is an improved design of the above pictogram, the body is in two parts allowing the body to appear to bend, and also the arms are slightly shorted than the legs so it looks inproportion. I also changed the shape of the persons head so a semicircle to represent the shape of a swimming caps, commonly worn in pool sports. When developing this design i also change the shape of the lines that resemble the water as before it looked to resemble waves instead of pool water, i have still left it in a wave like style but have simplified it to just one so the water look calm.
