When screen printing m designs i decided that i wanted there different colours so it was important to get he colour separations right
front seperations:
black layers
copper layer for behind the chip
gold layer
after preparing my screen and exposing them it was time to print, this was a very long process as i had to wait for the ink to dry before i printed the next layers as well as having to wash and wait for the screens to dry. Although the process is very long the outcomes were well worth the time. The only problem i had when printing was lining up the separations as the crop marks were not large or clear enough to match up exact. If i was to print them again i would create some other lager mark that would solve this problem and make it easier to print.
Below are my miss aligned prints :
The hardest part the align when printing was the text and lines that went over the chip. Unfortunately when creating my gold layer screen i did not raised the area of the passport chip out too much so when it came to printing the gold layer i blocked this out as i did not want to ruin the previous colour layer. Although i intended the pass port chip to be gold i think it still works well as white and also makes it more discrete and harder to find.
Below are my final prints that came out perfect:
If i was to screen print these designs again i would try make the layer of black thicker and darker to add more emphasis, but i think the effect of the textured card worked really well as something that would be hard to replicate as well as highlighting the traditional print method.
