My group and i notes down things that we recognise with boilers and boiler companies and also some finical research and facts on the company. From here we picked our font Helvetic and decided to go off and come up with a few design ideas using this finical research and brain storming of relevant things.
We gave ourselves a few things to work with such as the font helvetica, and the use of limited colours such as blue, red and orange which are colours that we decided reflected the company and their services.
From these few points i did a few finical sketches on paper before rushing straight to photoshop. Here are me few sketches. I started to play about with the kerning of the letters, by overlapping parts of the letters to create a link, e.g (top left of page) the H overlaps onto the vertical of the E, the L overlaps onto the bottom of the stem of the P, and so on. this create a physical link of the letters in a playful way, that ties in with the name of the company 'Help-Link'.
From these sketches i then tired to recreate and adapt them on photoshop to see how they worked digitally as this is the medium that they would be used for and shown on.

These are a few of my digitally developed ideas that i did using photoshop. I stuck to the few breif points we set ourselves and from this i found that the keying of the letters worded very well and looked better using two different colours for the two words to separate them from each other. What i also found worked well was using the company slogan typed in the shape of the flame. This created the shape of a symbol/logo with out using shapes, as the brief was to only use type.
After i had finished experimenting with these ideas we came together as a group and evaluated all our ideas to see which we liked best or how we could combine certain aspects of them to create a successful rebrand of the company.
When we all got together and evaluated the ideas to decided the combine 3 different parts of peoples work, the kerned helvetica letters of mine, the orange glow behind text of joe's and the 3D joined block H and L of sam. From this we then created what we though was our final...
but after some consideration we decided that this wouldn't work on a large scale or when printed on material as the orange glow looses the detail of the h and l and losses the hole emphasise and point of the design, we then had to reconsider this to some how make it work.
Above is our solution to the design problems we came across and our final design. We decided to take away the glow and leave is are the block helvetica lettering. To add more interest and depth to the design we decided to add another colour to the lettering of the 'Help-Link'. This worked well as the two colours complimented each other nicely and didn't detract any attention from the other. We also thought it was important to add the line 'the boiler people' below in lighter helvetica as it is not 100% obvious that its a boiler company and from the rebranding of it people my have gotten confused as to what they do.
Once we had completed the rebrand i decided to apply it to the website, boiler suits and other related objects the company may use. These showed how successful the design is and how it can be used on different scales. it also works very well on the Help-Link website.
