Book proposals

Pop art style book

This book would talk about how colour and font influences us to shop at and buy certain brands over others and why we even want to shop there. The book would be designed in a pop art style using bright coloured images that would contrast on white paper, and would have a detailed analyse of the font choice and colour and how it makes the brand successful for their target audience. The bright images would be complimented with screen printed text that would in keep with the pop art style book as pop art images were mainly screen printed. This would add depth and texture to the book at would be complimented by the hand bound book.

Audience – 16-18, design students wanting a basic knowledge on branding/commercial type.

Type of book – informative text/reference book?

Binding – hard bound

Other thoughts – possibly a notes page at the back for the students to make reference notes on what they have read and understood.

Image book

This book would be an art book that would contain a collection of numerous pieces of work what were created using the shop's type to create pieces inspired by David Carson. This would play with the legibility of the type which is crucial to the design of a shops type as it needs to be legible. The design pieces would take the text out of context to see if the brands iconic text works in other situations that were not its intended purpose.

Audience – designers and design students
