Brief 8 - Posterize - Brief and research

Brief:
The aim of this brief is to create a range of posters that are influenced by the things that I experience throughout the year for ppp. This will include but not be limited to:

Studio visits, gallery visits, talks, work placements, contact with professionals and professional experience. The posters will then be designed in my personal style of design which has a heavy influence of Swiss design. I aim to create a minimum of 4 posters so that there is a range of designs from my experiences.

In the above poster it uses key techniques that swiss modernism used to create it highly successful style. The design is successful as the information is clear to read and can be read in a logical order, but also adds interest by changing the width of the grid used.

This poster clearly uses a grid vertically and horizontally for its text. An interesting part of this poster is the shape that breaks the grid and creates the effect of a folded piece of paper revealing something underneath, similar to Superman revealing his costume under his clothes which is a reference to the event the poster is for.

In the above poster, it clearly shows attributes of the modernist style, with its use of a grid to give order to the type making the poster legible. The poster also uses a san serif type, and use of two colour that contrast. A key feature of this poster that makes it obvious that it is modernism is the use of shapes to represent an image, in this instance a piece of paper.

In the over poster the modernist influences are very apparent as there is a clear grid system used as well as the use of a san serif typeface. Its uses of shapes gives the idea that it is classified linking to its intended purpose to advertise ‘blackout privacy.
