To collect some of my information for my magazine I looked at two very useful books, Cacti and the House Plant Expert. These books were a more reliable source than the internet as the information was more accurate and consistent.
I looked at other content that could be included in the magazine such as a horoscope as they are a common thing in magazines but this would suggest a plant for each start sign and then give information on how to look after the suggested plant. To decide on each plant for the different star signs in look at a range of websites that suggested plants and decided on the most appropriate by choosing the most common suggestion on each website. When speaking to my peers about the idea of a plant horoscope they liked the idea as they said it was a fun quirky idea that might suggest a plant that they did not know about.
A suggested content idea from my survey was to include a selection on pots and tools available at high street store so that when they have plants in their environment they can personalise them to their home/workspace style. For this part of the magazine I collected images and prices of relevant items from store that are popular and on the high street.
It was also suggested to be by my peers that I include a section about how to decorate your space with plants as some people may be apprehensive on how to style them or use the suggested products. This idea was welcome as I think that it would match the sleek look that I wanted to achieve to be relevant with my audience. With this it will be the perfect balance between coffee table book and informative magazine. From the collection of these image for the decoration part of the magazine as well as images to go along side my information on plants I have created a pinterest board, I will collect most of the images from interest as I can find the most relevant and appropriate photographs on there that match my intended aesthetic for the magazine.
After reading these books and collecting more relevant information of imagery it was time to collate my research into an order that would be appropriate for a magazine. To start the magazine I have chosen to feature the benefits of plants as this is the most important article in the magazine. The articles that will follow this are the right plants for you, horoscope, how not to be a plant killer, pretty plants (showing products on the high street) and finally decoration with plants. This is an appropriate order as most of the bulk of the information I split up so that the audience is not confronted by a lot of information at the start and up off reading on.
